THE BIG MAC

To most people, a Big Mac is two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun. To me, though,  Big Mac stands for the Biased Illinois Governor’s Muslim-American Advisory Council.  A few weeks ago, to no fanfare in conventional media, but covered heavily in Muslim media, Illinois Governor Pat Quinn’s announced the creation of a tax-payer funded, “Muslim American Advisory Council, which will help ensure Muslim American participation in state government.”  Twenty-seven people were appointed to the council.

Why does Illinois have to “ensure Muslim American participation in state government?”  The Governor’s answer to that? “Illinois is a diverse state, which is one of our greatest strengths. There are more than 400,000 Muslims and 300 mosques within our borders, representing various racial and ethnic sects of Islam.  I want to make sure that everyone has an opportunity for input in how we address issues such as education, public safety and jobs, because the strategies may need to differ based on the history, culture and needs of different communities.”

The Governor’s press release also said, “The council will advise the Governor on appropriate policy developments, official directives, and other issues of significance impacting Illinois’ Muslims. It will bring important faith-based issues based on factual findings to the Governor’s attention and make recommendations to address those issues.”

Why is the Governor addressing “faith-based issues? I thought there was supposed to be separation of Church and state.  Why does the Governor want a religious group to give input on “such issues as education, public safety and jobs?”  Is there a Jewish-American Council?  A Hindu-American Council?  Etc., etc.  I could not find any other religious group that had an appointed advisory group for the Governor.

Pam Geller, a writer for World Net Daily had a lot to say about some of the people chosen to serve on the council. She wrote that many of them had links to Hamas and The Muslim Brotherhood.

Geller is not just some random blogger.  She  is the founder, editor and publisher of Atlas Shrugs.com and executive director of the American Freedom Defense Initiative (AFDI) . She received the Annie Taylor Award for Courage in 2010 for the David Horowitz Freedom Center. She was the subject of a profile on 60 Minutes, and of a cover story in the Sunday New York Times Metro section. The Times conducted an in-depth interview of Geller's views as well. She has made appearances on NBC Nightly News, ABC, CNN, AP, Reuters, the Sean Hannity Show, the Bill O’Reilly Show, Red Eye, Geraldo, the Mike Huckabee show, and other shows on the Fox News channel. She has appeared in the New York Times, the Washington Post, the LA Times, the Daily Mail and the Telegraph.

Geller wrote,“Among the Muslims Quinn appointed as members of his Muslim American Advisory Council is Safaa Zarzour, secretary general of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA). ISNA is Muslim Brotherhood front, having admitted ties to the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas. ISNA was named an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation Hamas terror-funding case. The Holy Land Foundation was once the largest Islamic charity in the United States and was shut down for funding the jihad terror group Hamas.

Also serving on Quinn's Muslim American Advisory Council is Ahmed Rehab, executive director of the Chicago chapter of the Council of American Islamic Relations (CAIR). CAIR, of course, was also named an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation trial. CAIR has had several of its officials convicted of terror activity, and has opposed every anti-terror measure devised since 9/11. CAIR was formed from the Islamic Association for Palestine, another Muslim Brotherhood group with ties to Hamas.”

She had a lot more information to share and it can be read here.

If the Governor wants to include faith-based advice as part of his plan for how he runs the state of Illinois he should not forget the 300,000 Jews who live here who might have some advice for him also.  There would be more Jews, but since Hitler killed six million during World War II, not to mention that today the Palestinians are killing more in Israel, there just aren’t many of us left.

  1. Once again, Quinn shows he doesn't know what he's doing.

  3. Great blog until the last paragraph. Thought that was bad taste. What does the Holocaust have to do with the Governors Muslim advisory board? It is disgusting that would relate the two. As a devout Jew, I am mortified and disgusted at your comment!

    (1) If you are confident in what you write, why didn't you identify yourself?

    (2) I am Jewish and I showed the blog to three devout Jewish friends before I posed it. None of them had a problem with the last paragraph. I apologize if I offended you.

  6. Ah yes, the demise of America because of the PC pansies like Quinn! If they want input, try running for office, last I checked it's still a democracy. If they don't get elected, it's because people don't like their agenda or what they stand for.
